Configuring your server
Everything that makes your server yours: name, slots, gather rate, wipe schedule, events, and maps. All configurable from the Rustinew dashboard — changes go to admin review before going live.
Server Info
The basics that show up in the Rust server browser:
- Server name — What players see in the browser. Use your community/clan name.
- Description — Shown when players click your server. Add Discord invite, rules, etc.
- Max slots — Default 100. We support up to 200 on dedicated hardware.
- Map size — 3000 (small/intimate) up to 6000 (large/explored). 3500–4500 is the sweet spot for most communities.
- Gather rate — Vanilla (1x), 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x. Affects how fast players collect resources.
- Mode — PvP or PvE. Set this honestly — it affects which Rust browser tab you appear in.
Quick-start presets
From the Server Info tab, you'll see 4 one-click presets:
- PvP Vanilla+ — 2x gather, vanilla decay, no kits. Classic PvP.
- PvE Casual — 3x gather, longer decay, no raiding.
- Solo/Duo/Trio — 2x gather, group cap 3, monthly wipes.
- Roleplay (Light) — 5x gather, very long decay, friendly economy.
Each preset is a bundled config that goes through admin review like any change — we'll deploy it on the next config push.
Wipe Schedule
From the Wipe Schedule tab:
- Frequency — Weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Force wipes (1st Thursday of month) are mandatory.
- Keep blueprints — Yes/no. "Yes" means players keep their BPs across map wipes (popular).
- Time of day — Default 13:00 UTC (after the EU Facepunch update).
Our wipe scheduler runs nightly and triggers your wipe on the configured schedule. Players get a 30-minute in-game warning + Discord ping.
Events
Independent intervals (in minutes) for the 5 events Rust supports:
- Airdrop — 30–120 typical. Default 60.
- Cargo Ship — 60–240 typical. Default 120.
- Chinook (CH-47) — 90–240 typical. Default 180.
- Attack Helicopter — 120–360 typical. Default 180.
- Bradley APC — Spawns at Launch Site only. Default 60.
The RustinewEvents plugin enforces these timings using Facepunch's own spawn prefabs — same behaviour as a natural spawn.
Proc Gen Maps
Every map wipe needs a new seed. From the Maps tab:
- Auto-pick (default) — We pick a tested seed for you each wipe.
- Request previews — Submit your preferred map size + monument preferences and we generate 5 previews. Pick your favourite, we deploy on next wipe.
- Custom Proc Gen Map (add-on) — Full control over monument selection, biome ratios, island intensity.
